Jo Savournin - Contralto
A nurse from Sheffield, Jo has been a performer in the South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire area since the age of 9. Her appearance as the youngest daughter in The Pirates of Penzance led her into a singing career mostly dedicated to the work of Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas, the most recent of which being the role of Phoebe in The Yeomen of the Guard for Nene Opera and Intake Methodist Musical Society.
Jo currently trains with Corrynne Osborne and is proud to hold the 15 years service award for NODA. She has enjoyed both performing and forming choreography in a variety of operettas, musicals and pantomimes over the last 17 years, Favourite roles to date include the title role in Iolanthe, Tessa in The Gondoliers, Pitti-sing and Katisha in The Mikado,Melissa in Princess Ida, Jou-Jou in The Merry Widow, and Scheherazade in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
Jo was delighted to be able to make her first venture into the world of opera with operahouse, making her debut with the company as the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in 2008.
